Dolphins add Byron Jones to PUP, Elijah Campbell to NFI lists ahead of training camp

Prior to the start of training camp next week, the Miami Dolphins declared on Friday that cornerback Byron Jones had been put on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Defensive back Elijah Campbell was also added to the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list by the team, according to their announcement.

The Dolphins can activate Campbell whenever he receives a clean bill of health, thus the two lists are comparable.

The two separate names are used to identify the manner in which the damage happened.

The NFI list is used for injuries that occurred outside of football-related activities, whereas the PUP list is used for injuries that occurred during football-related activities

such as practise or a game. Both lists are "active" during training camp, allowing the athlete to resume practising as soon as they have been cleared.

Anytime between Weeks 7 and 11, teams have a window in which the player can start working out with the team.
