American basketball player Jerry West is retired and has a $50 million dollar fortune

With the Los Angeles Lakers, Jerry spent his whole NBA career.

West served as co-captain of the 1960 U.S. Olympic gold medal team in Rome and was selected as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996.

Jerry West, the fifth and sixth children of Cecil and Howard West, was born in Chelyan, West Virginia, in 1938.

Just before the franchise moved to Los Angeles, the Minneapolis Lakers selected West with the second overall pick in the 1960 NBA Draft.

West averaged an NBA-record 46.3 points per game in the 1965 playoffs.

In 1969–70, West had one of his best seasons, leading the NBA in scoring average and receiving his first of four All–Defensive First Team selections.

For the 1976–1977 NBA season, West took over as the Lakers' head coach. He coached the Lakers for three years, during which time they amassed a 145-101 record.

In 1960, West wed Martha Jane Kane, his college love. David, Mark, and Michael were their three boys, and they got divorced in 1976.
