Penguins re-sign Rickard Rakell to six-year extension

This offseason, the black and gold have accomplished yet another significant task.

Rickard Rakell, a forward with the Pittsburgh Penguins, has been re-signed to a six-year, $30 million contract deal

according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on Monday evening.

Before the trade deadline, Pittsburgh acquired Rakell from the Anaheim Ducks

The 29-year-old split last season's 71 games between the Penguins and Ducks, tallying 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points.

Last week, general manager Ron Hextall ticked off one of the top boxes in his offseason to-do list when he re-signed

star defenceman Kris Letang to a six-year extension to keep his team's contending window open for a little while longer.
